How Blue Lotus Chai Is Building a More Mindful Cup of Chai

We produced over 26.5 million cups of chai in 2025. That much chai comes with a responsibility to continue making our chai Earth-friendly.

As our Director of Operations, Cyndi Trevisiol, puts it: meaningful impact doesn’t come from one big change—it comes from consistent, intentional choices.

Sourcing thoughtfully: We prioritize local vendors whenever possible and work with partners who are committed to renewable energy, environmental certifications, and responsible practices.

Thoughtful packaging: Our tins are 100% recyclable*, and we use packaging made with post-consumer recycled materials. We’re actively working toward even more easily recyclable formats by 2027.

Low-waste operations: From bulk purchasing and refill systems to reusable kitchenware and plant-based cleaning products, we focus on reducing waste across our facility.

Energy efficiency investments: Through our partnership with BRING Recycling and the Rethink Business Program, we’ve implemented energy-efficient lighting in our production space—one of many incremental changes that add up over time.

Thank you to Eugene Mayor Kaarin Knudson and BRING Recycling for your recognition of Blue Lotus Chai's efforts in sustainability with the BRING Rethink Business Innovator Award. Thanks to the support from BRING Recycling we were able to install energy efficient lighting throughout our facilaity and make other upgrades to make our chai more eco-friendly.
