We took a trip down to our local Farmer’s Market and decided to get creative with a fun iced matcha recipe made with fresh, local produce and our Matcha Masala Chai.
Multiple stands were overflowing with summer berries, and so we knew that ingredient was a must. We all know and love the classic strawberry matcha, but what if we gave it a twist?
While we were admiring the luscious produce at Wild Child Farm, we saw a bundle of fresh basil and thought that would be the perfect addition to our flavors from the strawberries and the matcha chai. Who doesn’t love the infamous duo of strawberry and basil?

Fresh Ingredients with Local Inspiration
I wanted the ingredients to really shine, so I decided to keep things simple. I mashed a handful of strawberries in a bowl and drizzled a bit of Humble Bee Honey on top (Another local delicacy from Lane County Farmer’s Market). From there, I tore up some fresh basil leaves and added them to the bowl. I muddled everything together until the strawberries and basil had broken down into a thick, syrupy mixture that was smooth enough to sip through a straw.
Now, that dazzling moment when matcha meets strawberry… you know what I’m talking about. I poured my strawberry basil mix into the glass, topped it with ice, and poured in the milk, leaving room at the top for my prepared matcha chai. I poured that in nice and slow, taking in that gorgeous dance as the green matcha slowly seeped down into the cup, mixing with the milk before barely swirling with the bright red strawberries. Chef's kiss!
